DeMouth — Mouth Click Remover

Getting Started

How do I clean a recording?

Open the app and tap "Clean a recording" on the dashboard. Choose Record now (in-app mic), Pick an audio file (Files / iCloud Drive), or Pick a video clip (Photos). DeMouth scans for mouth noise and shows the result; the Compare screen lets you A/B before saving or sharing.

What does "repairs in place, never cuts" mean?

Most tools delete the noisy bit, which shortens the file and can knock your video out of sync. DeMouth instead repairs each event where it sits — clicks are in-painted sample-accurately, plosive pops get a brief low-end duck, and breaths are softly reduced. Nothing is deleted, so the length never changes and audio stays locked to picture.

How does the per-class detection timeline work?

After scanning, DeMouth shows a color-coded timeline with a count per class — for example "17 clicks · 4 pops · 22 breaths." You can adjust sensitivity separately for clicks, plosives, breaths, and smacks, then tap Clean. Or skip straight to Clean and use the defaults.

How does the A/B compare work?

On the Compare screen, toggle between Original and Cleaned to hear the repair on the same passage. When you're happy, save to your library or share anywhere via the iOS share sheet.

Detection & Repair

What sounds does DeMouth remove?

Mouth clicks and ticks, lip smacks, saliva/sticky-mouth sounds, breaths, and P/B/T plosive pops. Each class is detected separately so you can tune how aggressive the repair is per type.

What are the breath reduction options?

Breaths are part of natural speech, so DeMouth lets you "reduce, don't kill" them. Choose how much to lower each breath — −6, −9, or −12 dB — or remove them entirely. Lighter reduction keeps narration sounding human; stronger reduction is better for tightly edited podcasts.

It missed a few clicks, or removed something I wanted to keep. What can I do?

Raise the sensitivity for that class to catch more events, or lower it if DeMouth is flagging speech you want to keep. Detection is statistical, so a quick sensitivity tweak and re-clean usually nails it.

Audio & Video

Does it work on video files?

Yes. Pick a video clip from your Photos library and DeMouth extracts the audio, repairs the mouth noise, then muxes it back into the original video. The video stream itself is not re-encoded — visual quality is preserved bit-for-bit, and because the repair is length-preserving the picture stays perfectly in sync. (Video cleaning is a Premium feature.)

What formats are supported?

M4A, MP3, WAV, AIFF, and standard MP4/MOV video containers. The App resamples as needed for processing and exports back to a standard format.

Does it work on music or singing?

DeMouth is built for spoken-word audio — podcasts, voice-over, audiobooks, and dialogue. It is not designed for music or singing and may not perform well on those.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. Detection and repair run entirely on your device, even on a plane or with no signal.

Free vs Premium

What's free vs Premium?

Free: 1 cleaned clip per day, up to 3 minutes per file, full per-class detection and "reduce, don't kill" breaths, unwatermarked export, with banner and interstitial ads. Premium: Unlimited daily cleans, longer files up to 30 minutes audio / 10 minutes video, cleaning the audio inside videos, batch processing, ACX & broadcast export presets, the premium breath model, and zero ads.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — the Premium Annual plan ($49.99/year) includes a 7-day free trial. You'll only be charged at the end of the trial. Cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings before the trial ends.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Settings inside the App and tap "Restore Purchases". This re-applies your active subscription if you've previously purchased one on this Apple ID.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find DeMouth and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Privacy

Where do my recordings go?

They stay on your iPhone. The App does not upload audio or video to any server. Detection and repair run on-device. You can confirm by toggling Airplane Mode — cleanup still works. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

What permissions does the app need?

Microphone (only when you tap Record), Photo Library read-only (only for the video clip you pick), and Notifications (optional, for background-processing completion alerts).

Why do I see ads, and how is my data used?

The free tier shows Google AdMob banner and interstitial ads. AdMob may collect device-level identifiers and usage data for ad personalization; your audio and video are never shared with it. A consent prompt appears on first launch, and Premium removes ads entirely. See the Privacy Policy.
